Asian stocks close Thursday mixed at close
ANKARA
Major Asian stock exchanges closed mixed on Thursday.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, fell 0.08% to 3,409 points as of 1204GMT.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.18% to close at 28,657 points.
Japan’s foreign trade deficit widened to a record 21.73 trillion yen ($160 billion) in fiscal year 2022, ending March 31, local media reported on Thursday.
The deficit quadrupled from the last fiscal year on a yearly basis,
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks on the Hong Kong exchange, climbed 0.14% to 20,396 points.
China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange, on the other hand, fell 0.09% to close at 3,367.
China on Thursday left its benchmark interest rates unchanged, in line with market forecasts.
The one-year loan prime rate (LPR) – the medium-term lending facility uses for corporate and household loans – remained unchanged at 3.65% for the eighth consecutive month, according to the People’s Bank of China.
The five-year LPR, a reference for mortgages, remained at 4.3%.
India’s Sensex benchmark gained 0.11% to close at 59,632.
The Singapore index lost 0.32% to 3,313.4 points at Thursday close.
