Asian stock markets mixed at Tuesday’s close


ANKARA

Major Asian stock markets ended mixed on Tuesday as investors are preparing for a rate hike from the US Federal Reserve policy meeting this week.

Economists are anticipating another 75-basis-point hike from the Fed’s meeting on Wednesday.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 15.5 points, or 0.48%, to 3,239.

Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange decreased 67 points, or 0.24%, to 27,632.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, was the best performer of the day, surging 342.9 points, or 1.67%, to 20,906 points.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange increased for the first time in four sessions, up 27 points, or 0.83%, to close the day at 3,277.

In India, the Sensex benchmark fell 497 points, or 0.88%, to end the day at 54,268, extending loses from the previous session.

The Singapore index gained 11.65 points, or 0.37%, to close at 3,192.​​​​​​​

Singapore’s manufacturing output grew 2.2% year-on-year in June, much below than market forecast of 6%.
