Ankara boosts security ahead of Putin visit

Among the measures being put in place for the visit of the Russian head of state will be a double to impersonate Putin, a tactic also employed during the visit of US president George W Bush earlier this year. In addition, the route to the mausoleum of the founding father of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, is to be temporarily closed to traffic during Putin’s visit to the site.
Ahead of the visit, Putin’s first as Russian President, special meetings were held at the police headquarters and Chief of the Ankara Police Ercument Yilmaz issued orders to have no hitches and also cancelled his trip to Belgium. Yilmaz said that they would try their best not the disturb the traffic of the city.
Putin had to defer his visit to Turkey, planned for earlier this year, due to the hostage crisis in a school in Ossetia.
