American Journalist Missing in Iraq

Garen had apparently taken photos of an ambulance that was riddled with bullets during clashes between Italian forces and the Mahdi Army 10 days ago. Nasiriye Archeology Director Abdul Amir Hamdani indicated that three people, including a pregnant woman, were killed when the ambulance came under fire. Garen held Italian forces responsible for the attack, and alleged that the Italians killed a family, not terrorists. Garen reportedly sent the photos to the Italian government.

Hamdani also disclosed that Garen was working to protect archeological sites from looters.
