Aksit: We Expect 15 Million Foreign Tourists To Visit Turkey In 2003
Aksit who attended a meeting which was held at Kremlin Palace Hotel said that Turkey was a safe country and noted that it did not have any risk.
Upon a question, Aksit said that cancellation of reservations due to Iraq war was out of question, but some tourists postponed their vacations for 15-20 days.
Aksit said that a total of 13 million 250 thousand tourists had visited Turkey in 2002 and Turkey had obtained an income worth of 11.9 billion U.S. dollars. She added that their target for number of tourists was 15 million and for tourism income was 13 billion dollars in 2003 and said that she hoped that they would reach this target. Aksit noted that a total of 367 thousand Yugoslavian tourists and 3,5 million German tourists had visited Turkey in 2002.
