After Saudi Arabia, THIS Muslim country wants to ink major deal with Turkey, big setback for US because…, offer includes production of…
Before this, the country had signed a deal with France. If the country now finalizes the deal with Turkey, it will be the second time in four years that the country has chosen a non-American fighter jet.

Until recently, most Middle Eastern Islamic countries used to buy weapons from the US and Russia. However, the dominance of these two nations is now being challenged. Frustrated with the US’s strict conditions and Russia’s ongoing problems, Middle Eastern countries are now looking towards Turkey, which is developing its own stealth fighter jet, KAAN. The prototype of the KAAN stealth fighter jet has already been tested, and it is currently in the development phase. This means that in the next few years, Turkey will have its own fifth-generation fighter jet.
According to media reports, after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has also shown interest in Turkey’s KAAN fighter jet. The CEO of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Mehmet Demiroglu, has confirmed UAE’s interest in Turkish media. Earlier, the UAE wanted to buy F-35 stealth fighter jets from the US, but in January 2021, the Biden administration halted the deal because the UAE was making a 5G technology agreement with China. As a result, the UAE decided to step away from the deal in December 2021. In September 2024, the UAE clearly announced that it no longer had any plans to buy American fighter jets.
Before this, the UAE had signed a deal with France to buy 80 Rafale-F4 fighter jets. If the UAE now finalizes a deal for KAAN fighter jets with Turkey, it will be the second time in four years that the country has chosen a non-American fighter jet. After Saudi Arabia, the UAE will be the second country to show interest in Turkey’s KAAN jet.
Last year, Turkish media reports claimed that Saudi Arabia was considering purchasing at least 100 KAAN fighter jets. In December 2024, officials from both countries even discussed this matter. Reports suggest that during these talks, Turkey also explored the possibility of Saudi Arabia being involved in the production of KAAN jets. Given this, there is a strong chance that Turkey may also offer the UAE an opportunity to participate in this ambitious project.
