Accusations of Deliberate Fire in Cyprus

This has not been the first time an incident like this has happened. In August a fire swept across the plains on Yeni Erenkoy (Yialousa in Greek), the fire fighters had said the fire had started in three different places meaning it could only be deliberate. Over 550 000 Greek Cypriots have come to Karpaz since the border openings to visit their lands or pray at the Apostle Andreas church in Dip Karpaz.

According to early estimates about 300 olive trees, 80 carob trees were completely torched and 200 olive trees partly damaged in the fire. About 300 acres of land were affected by the fire. The fire was brought under control at about 2:00pm after the intensive work of the local and outside fire brigades and voluntary workers from the region.
