A judge ordered Uzans to pay 4.2 billion to Motorola
The suit charges the family with fraud and racketeering related to about $3 billion in loans the companies made to Telsim.
In his 173-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff ordered the Uzans to pay Motorola $4.26 billion, plus post-judgment interest. He also ordered the family to transfer to the court Telsim shares that collectively constitute 73.5 percent of the ownership and control of Telsim.
The judge said that all the credible evidence before him proved the defendants "have perpetrated a huge fraud."
