A Big growth year for European Search Engine Marketing

Forrester Research, Inc. has calculated the growth of search engine marketing to increase in Europe by a whopping 65% in 2005 as compared with 2004. It is estimated that by 2010, European marketers will spend almost €3 billion—up from €856 million in 2004.

While the predictions suggest that Search Marketing will tops €3 Billion in 2010, there are also suggestions that search marketing growth will cool down by 2007, as it will be very difficult for some companies to pay for the heavy prices of paid ads against the backlash of consumers and clients. There are some more reasons for this slow down by 2007, as rich media ads, enabled by increased residential broadband access, will pull ad spending away from other forms of offline and online advertising. This would be a major factor in the possible decrease and there are also good chances of keyword search costs to increase.

Clearly, the charm of search engine marketing is going to increase for a couple of more years, before it finally be challenged by some problems and some other good sources of advertisement!
