Bomb attack at Talat’s residence, no causality
There is no causality but only financial damage in result of the severe blast that occured around 01,30 (local time) before the 3-storey building. It is reported that there are damages at the chemistry laboratoy which belogns to Talat’s wife.
Turkish Cypriot Premier said that he has just gone to sleep at the time of the explosion. "The laboratory at the first floor suffered from the blast. Its door and a wall next to it were pulled down. The bomb had been put before it," Talat told to reporters at the scene.
Upon a question Mehmet Ali Talat noted that he thinks there is no connection between the attack and the talks scheduled on Thursday. "There is no a clandestine organization in Cyprus. Everything what is said about the incident is only a guess. Such an attack targets Cypriot people, especially when Cypriot Turks have seriously reached an understanding. But they (the insurgents) won’t get a success. There is no connection between the attack and Cyprus talks."
Talat added that there was no bodyguard before his residence, "police rushed into scene immediately after the explosion while I was calling them. Some friends and journalists also called me. Mr. Denktash didn’t call by now so I hope he hasn’t heard."
Investigators carrying out inspection at explosion site initally stated a sound bomb was detonated.
