Syria: Ties with Turkey much improved

Speaking in an interview with the Arabic language daily Asharq Al-Awsat, al-Assad said that political and economic links with Turkey were much improved.
Al-Assad, who visited Turkey earlier this month, said he wanted Turkey and Syria to adopt a joint approach on many regional issues.
“This can be done only through dialogue and co-ordination,” he said.
The Syrian President said that the two countries had much in common, explaining that the situation in Iraq had posed a danger both Syria and Turkey.
Though he did not give details, al-Assad said that both Ankara and Damascus had identical views on all issues that had been covered during his three day visit.
