Turkey: F-16 pilot found dead
A statement of Air Forces Command said that a F-16 war plane belonging to Balikesir Ninth Main Jet Base Command crashed in Domanic town of Aegean Kutahya province due to a technical failure during training flight on Friday.
The statement noted that wreckage of the plane was found 15 kilometers of Domanic on Sunday morning as a result of search and rescue operations.
Pilot Mehmet Karakuzu could not jump out of the plane with a parachute and died in the plane crash, the statement added.
A F-16 war plane disappeared from radar after taking off from Main Jet Base in Balikesir province in Marmara Region while it was flying above Tavsanli town of Kutahya province.
The plane was reported to crash around Tavsanli.
Despite ongoing search and rescue operations which were carried out in difficulty due to bad weather conditions, the pilot and wreckage of the plane could not be found for two days.
