“Use of Incirlik base appropriate”

ANKARA (AA) – “We as General Staff find the usage of Incirlik base by the US for the rotation of the military personnel and equipment in and out of Iraq appropriate in terms of Turkey’s national interests, deputy Chief of General Staff General Ilker Basbug said today.

Holding a press briefing at the General Staff headquarters, General Basbug said of the Cyprus issue that the process between the Foreign Ministry and the General Staff still continues.

ETHNIC-BASED FEDERAL IRAQ WD BE "BLOODY"

Basbug said that they believed that a federation in neighbouring Iraq based on ethnic lines would be "difficult and bloody".

He told reporters that the general staff believed a federation based on geography rather than ethnicity would be more suitable for Iraq.
