One dead, three injured in Basra salary protest

British troops, backed by Iraqi police officers, warned the angry protestors to disperse peacefully. At least one person was killed and three others were heavily injured in the clashes fueled by British forces’ intervention. Iraqi police officers fired through air to stop the demonstration. The injured were transfered to a nearby hospital after the incident. IHA reporter from the scene told the protest still continued in some parts of the southern Iraqi city.
