U.S. to Move Base in Spain to Cyprus

The Greek Cypriot weekly newspaper Kipros Simera reported yesterday that one of the two British bases in Cyprus, Agrotur, would become a US military base.

It has been alleged that the defence ministries of Turkey, Greece, and Israel were notified about the transfer with a ‘confidential’ message.

The newspaper commented that the new American base would "seriously strengthen the American presence in the eastern Mediterranean".

They continued to say that, "in this highly strategic region for America, land, air, and naval units would be kept ready for attack at any moment in order to maintain total control over the region.
