Istanbul Suicide Bombers Identified In 60 Hours

Mesut Cabuk, 23, drove the vehicle carrying bombs to the Beth Israel Synagogue in Sisli, while Gokhan Elaltuntas, 22, was the driver of the second truck, which carried bombs to the Neve Shalom Synagogue. Both of the perpetrators were from Bingol.

Police succeeded in solving the bombings on two synagogues in Istanbul in 60 hours. Mesut Cabuk and Gokhan Elaltuntas drove the bomb-loaded trucks, while Azad Ekinci and Feridun Ugurlu assisted them.

The identity of Cabuk was determined through a passport found in the crime scene. Azad Ekinci and Feridun Ugurlu reportedly bought the two vans carrying the bombs and then fled to Dubai 19 days ahead of the attack. The perpetrators are from the Union of Imams, which has connections with Al-Quaeda.
