Southeastern cities voice anger on Turkey’s war gambling in Iraq

Protestors from various districts of the city began gathering at the city centre to protest sending Turkish troops to the country’s southern neighbouring country. Police faced to a molotive coctail attack while warning protestors to disperse peacefully through back streets of the province. Police arrested the two attackers following an investigation on the spot. Police officers smelled hands of them to see if they were real attackers. There were no immediate reports of death or injuries. Security measures were stepped up in Diyarbakir and its towns.
Entry and exit of the province were kept by the security forces to avert any disturbances.
In another protest held in Van province, two protestors were arrested by the police while supporters of the Democratic People’s Party (DEHAP) were laying a black wreath at the headquarter of Justice and Democracy Party. Riot police, backed by armoured vehicles, stepped up their presence around the headquarter of the current ruling party. Police blocked the road to prevent the supporters from marching towards the headquarter. The supporters staged a sit-down protest amid pro-Ocalan slogans.
