Turkey: Uzans lost for 20 days

The fact that security forces, which showed the talent of searching Ocalan in three continents, could not even determine whether Kemal, Yavuz, and Bahattin Uzan are in Turkey or not, caused reactions in the public opinion. Police, that raided many offices and houses, which allegedly belong to Uzans, could not find anything, that will help them to reach Uzans. Uzan brothers have been lost for 20 days. There is no information on whether they are in Turkey or not.

According to the police, one of the most important reasons why Uzans could not be captured, was rich resources of the family, which owns yachts, helicopters, planes, countless houses, and a GSM network. Police also suspects the existence of a mole. The fact that there was a big hurry in the Rumeli Holding while the Financial Police was awaiting the permission to hold a raid there, supports this suspicion.

Uzans Became A Mystery in 20 Days
• The Imar Bank, owned by the Uzan family, underwent a difficulty of solvency, when CEAS and Kepez were confiscated on June 13. The bank was transferred to the Savings Insurance Fund on July 3, and then liquidated.
• Engin Akcakoca, the Chairman of the Banking Regulating Board (BDDK), announced on July 19 that unrecorded accounts and irregularities regarding off-shore accounts and Treasury bond sales were discovered in the Imar bank.
• BDDK reported crime 2 days before this announcement of Akcakoca.
• Kemal Uzan, and his brothers Yavuz and Bahattin Uzan, did not handed the records of the Imar Bank despite of the insistence of BDDK. Sisli Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant to capture Kemal, Yavuz, and Bahattin Uzan on August 17, one month after BDDK reported crime.
• No trace of Uzans was found despite of the raids of police one after another. Sisli Public Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant first, for Kemal and Yavuz Uzan and then for Bahattin Uzan in their absentia.
