Number of Green Passport Reaches One Million

Presenting the opportunity of travelling to some countries without requiring any visas, a green passport is still given to old members of the Turkish Grand Assembly, old ministers, state officers of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree, to those leaving their position because of retirement, to public officers working under contract, to municipality, city, and district leaders and their wives for the length of their terms in office, to widows of those with a right to have a distinctive passport, to unmarried daughters with no occupation living and sons under the legal age living within in the household, to those accomplishing at least 30 million dollars of exports, and to administration council heads of institutions being at the top in terms of annual taxation.

Within the last five years the number of green passports issued has surpassed 799 thousand. The new law is tabled for discussion in the new year.
