Production Sector Starts Healing Crisis Wounds
According to the survey data, production and capacity usage increased in the first six months of this year. Fifty percent of the respondents stated they experienced an increse of at least 54 percent in domestic sales, 58 percent in export sales, and 45 percent in employment. For the second half of 2003, 50 percent of the respondents expected an increase of at least 61 percent in domestic sales, 76 percent in export sales, and 57 percent in employment. The fact that 18 percent of the respondents reported a decrease in domestic sales indicates that some sectors have not recovered from the crisis. Thirty-three percent of respondents put their capacity usage at 70 to 80 percent, 22 percent said it was between 60 and 70 percent, and 22 percent reported using half or less of their production capacity.
