Bureaucracy Defeats 10 Million Dollar Investment

The potential investment by Kiler Stores, had it been approved, was anticipated to cost about 10 million dollars, as well as provide employment for about 350 people. With 30 stores already in Istanbul, Kiler had chosen Ankara in his first outside city investment. Renting the spaces previously occupied by the Contour and Tekzen stores, Kiler readied his investment effort. The Yenisehir Municipality however didn’t give the new store permission to open. Umit Kiler, Kiler Stores Administration Council member and brother of TBMM representative Vahit Kiler, called the denial of permission to the new Kiler store an unfair decision by the municipality. Documents showing that the Yenisehir Municipality made no such decision in the case of the Contour and Tezken stores have subsequently been made open.
