27 people killed in Turkish bus crash

The driver was among those killed, and many of the injured passengers, who were taken to a local hospital, had been sleeping and could not recall the crash.

"It reminded me of doomsday. Those injured were screaming … It was terrible," Anatolia quoted truck driver Ali Can, who arrived immediately after the crash, as saying.

The bus, which belonged to a private Turkish company, had been traveling overnight to Erzincan from the central city of Sivas, about 155 miles to the west, Anatolia said. The bus crashed about 18 miles short of its destination.
