Turkey was not invited to Expanded G-8 Summit

The foreign affairs ministers of fifty-four countries will attend the expanded dialogue session of the G-8 summit, which will be held in the city of Evian on France’s border with Switzerland. The summit will be the first post-Iraq-war meeting of Russia, Germany and France with the United States, England, Canada, Japan and Italy. Despite warm diplomatic messages exchanged before the summit, there have been concerns that tensions between the U.S. and France might overshadow the event.

The summit will take place over a three-day period. The "expanded dialogue" session, involving government and state officials of fourteen countries and representatives of five international organizations, is scheduled for the first day of the summit. France originated the idea for the international dialogue session, which has a goal of demonstrating the willingness of the eight industrialized nations to dialog with and cooperatively develop the other countries of the world.
