Both Birth and Death Come Early in Bagdat
There are newborn babies at the hospitals as well. Ten to fifteen births are given per day at Bagdat (Baghdad) Central Children’s Hospital, the only hospital not looted. Most of the newborn are prematurely born because of the mothers’ panic attack experiences. And doctors are not hopeful. They say: "If drought, famine and lack of medicine continue, they would be victims of high fever and diarrhea."
Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Fettah of Baghdad Central Children’s Hospital sums up the situation at the hospital: "The most miserable thing that a doctor would do to his/her patient is to bury him/her in the hospital yard, instead of curing him/her."
