Arabs Attempt to Bring Israel’s WMD to UN Agenda

The Arab countries will reportedly submit a resolution for consideration proposing that the Middle East be proclaimed a region that is devoid of all weapons of mass destruction. The date the resolution will be put to a vote has not yet been determined.

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Faruk el-Shara said that they were prepared to sign a treaty that will cleanse the entire Middle East of weapons of mass destruction. In an interview with Special Broadcasting System (SBS) of Australia, Shara denied accusations made by the United States that allege chemical weapons are present in Syria and that it has hidden such weapons for Iraq.

Shara said, "The Syrian government is prepared to sign a treaty under U.N. supervision that will ensure that the Middle East is devoid of all kinds of weapons of mass destruction, whether they be nuclear, chemical or biological."
