Seminar on Iran-Turkey economic cooperation begins in Istanbul
The Turkish state statistical institute reported that the figure
stood at US dlrs 912.924 million in the first three quarters of 2001.
It said that Turkish exports to Iran reached US dlrs 199.908
million while its imports from Iran stood at US dlrs 657.976 million
in the same period.
However, bilateral trade rose by 13.48 percent in 2001 compared to
2000 exceeding US dlrs 1,193.287 million, the report said, adding,
"Given the current trend in trade between the two nations, it is
highly improbable to attain the 2000 trade figure in 2002."
Also, the institute reported in October that Iran-Turkey trade was
down by 11.4 percent, and reached dlrs 649.274 million in the
January-July period.
Iran and Turkey transactions stood at dlrs 733.207 million in the
similar period in the previous year.
Based on statistics available, Turkey exported as much as dlrs
160.519 million worth of goods to Iran.
Turkey’s exports to Iran stood at dlrs 197.072 million in the same
period in the year 2001, while its imports from Iran amounted to dlrs
536.135 million.
According to the statistics, in July 2002, Turkey exported dlrs
20.765 million worth of goods to Iran and imported dlrs 56.863
million worth of goods from the country.
Turkey’s exports to and imports from Iran in July 2001 stood at
dlrs 23.531 million and dlrs 62.272 million respectively.
The volume of Iran-Turkey commercial transactions in 2001 rose by
13.48 percent compared to that in 2000.
