25 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza
GAZA CITY, Palestine
At least 25 Palestinians were killed and many others injured in Israeli air and artillery strikes targeting various areas of the Gaza Strip since Sunday morning, according to the Civil Defense in Gaza.
In northern Gaza, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said four Palestinians were killed and several others injured, including women and children, in the bombing of Um Al-Fahm School in Beit Lahiya which houses hundreds of displaced people.
He said five people were also killed in Jabalia from strikes on civilian gatherings and homes, including those of the Abu Nasser and Samour families.
In Gaza City, three Palestinians lost their lives and many others were injured in an airstrike on the Hararah family home near the Al-Sha’bia intersection, while another three were reported killed in an attack on a civilian gathering.
In the central area of the Gaza Strip, an Israeli strike on a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp resulted in one death and a number of injuries.
A Palestinian was also killed near the entrance of the electricity company east of Nuseirat.
In Deir al-Balah, a Palestinian was killed and others were seriously injured in a strike on a tent sheltering displaced people.
Five more Palestinians were killed in an attack on the Da’alis family home west of Nuseirat.
In southern Gaza, two Palestinians were killed in artillery shelling east of Rafah, according to Bassal.
Israel has systematically targeted civilian facilities including schools, hospitals and places of worship amid its ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Under the rules of war, targeting such facilities can constitute a war crime.
Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
Nearly 41,600 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 96,200 others injured, according to local health authorities.
The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
