A Dream come true for Bosnian Boy who collected Aid for the Victims of the Earthquake in Turkey – Sarajevo Times
Benjamin Mehanovic, a young humanitarian who sold tea in Sarajevo to help the victims of last year’s devastating earthquakes in Turkey, had his wish fulfilled to attend a Fenerbahce match, whose jersey is also worn by Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) national team players Edin Dzeko and Rade Krunic.
With the support of the Directorate for Diaspora and Related Communities of the Republic of Turkey (YTB) and organized by the Association of Turkish Alumni in BiH (TUMED), the dream of young Benjamin to attend a home match of the Istanbul “yellow-blues” became a reality three days ago.
Benjamin Mehanovic was in the stands of the Ulker Stadium, where, alongside the goal of Edin Dzeko, with whom he was photographed as a one-year-old, Istanbul’s Fenerbahce drew 2-2 with Alanyaspor.
Before the match in Istanbul, young Benjamin was also a guest on the club’s television, saying that it was a surprise for him to attend the Fenerbahce match.
“My dream has come true. Many Fenerbahce players are dear to me, but Edin Dzeko will always be my favorite. I took a photo with Dzeko when I was a baby,” said Mehanovic.
Benjamin’s father, Edin Mehanovic, thanked the Istanbul club for their hospitality.
“Benjamin is a boy with a big heart. During the earthquakes, we were very sad. When he initiated the humanitarian action, we were sad but proud. Benjamin didn’t know he would come to the match and was very happy when he found out. He is a Fenerbahce fan and loves Edin Dzeko very much,” said his father, AA writes.
