Senate Decision on Rice Expected Wednesday

Following US President George W. Bush’s appointment of Rice as the new US Secretary of State, Rice has spent the last week as the subject of a confirmation hearing at the Senate.

Democratic Senator Joe Biden, Robert Byrd and Henry Reid called on the General Council to discuss Rice’s appointment before the vote is held, therefore the hope for Rice’s approval expressed at the welcome ceremony on Friday with has been put off until Wednesday.
