Australian company wins contract for Marmaray tunnel

Downer EDI Ltd said Tuesday that it has secured the deal to design the tunnel to run beneath the Bosphorus Strait, part of a massive project that involves the construction of the underwater rail link, four underground stations and connections to the existing rail system in the city.
The $1.0 billion Marmaray tunnel will be 55 metres below sea level, making it one of the world’s deepest, according to the statement issued by Downer EDI.
