Iran Officially Ends Uranium-Enriching Program
The program was ended yesterday based on an agreement with Germany, England and France. A spokesman for the Iranian government, Abdullah Ramazanzade, said, "The side that will determine the period and restrictions about this topic, however, will be Iran." The postponement of the program will be directly related to how much Europeans adhere to the agreements they have."We willingly agreed to postpone our activities in order to establish confidence in regional and international fields without having any official urgency", he added.
In praise of the decision, Muhammad Al Baradey, President of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirmed that Iran has stopped the activities related to uranium enrichment. The report sent to Tehran for official approval that is to be prepared by inspectors will be handled at an IAEA meeting on November 25th. The US has been insistent that Iran’s studies be forwarded to the United Nations (UN) Security Council and that international sanctions be applied. Iran had been running uranium enrichment research in nuclear facilities in Natanz and Isfahan.
