Cyprus and Its Conditional Nod

Papadopulous said that the people who thought the Greek Cypriot Administration would abdicate its veto were wrong. He added that Turkey’s fulfillment of its obligations toward southern Cyprus would greatly influence his decision to veto Turkey’s membership.

Greek President Kostis Stefanopulous echoed Papadopolous when he said, "Athens will help Turkey gain full membership; however, Ankara has international law obligations to fulfill."
