Power vacuum in Iraq: Sahin

Discussing the latest wave of kidnapping and killing of Turks working in Iraq, Sahin said that those people who went to work and help the Iraqi people were faced with serious problems.
More than a dozen Turkish workers are being held hostage in Iraq at the moment, while three Turkish truck drivers were killed in an ambush late last week.
Five more Turks were wounded in an attack on vehicles carrying aid from the Turkish Red Crescent organisation to the Turkmen citizens of the northern Iraqi city of Tal Afar on the weekend.
“Turkey is a neighbouring country of Iraq,” Sahin said. “We help people of Iraq with consumer goods from time to time. However, some circles there display inhumane attitudes. The Allied forces in Iraq should take up this matter seriously and resolve the public order problem together with the interim administration.”
“We can’t intervene in domestic matters of other countries but we cannot also be insensitive to the cross-border matters that concern our country and people.”
