Hurricane Jeanne Kills 556 in Haiti

United Nations (UN) Spokesman Touissant Kong-Doudou said that floods and landslides caused by Jeanne have left hundreds homeless. Search and rescue teams are collecting bodies in the nation’s third largest city, Gonavies, where locals spent the night on the roofs of their houses, in cars, or in the trees.
