Beginning of school year always makes me sad

It being the beginning of the week may be the cause. During the weekends, one has the opportunity to listen to oneself and realize how fast the pace of life is. One sinks into deep thought and tries to take account of one’s life. It’s sometimes very hard to return to our daily lives on Monday.

I felt the same way when I went to school. During summer holidays, people had fun, travelled to places but with the coming of September, the school year would dawn in front us. We would all become a little melancholy. Everyone would be faced with the fact that the summer holidays were at an end and a year of school was staring at them.

The ringing of bells would be the sign of the beginning of classes and the coming of winter. The weather, which was getting colder, would be freezing soon. Winds and snow were returning.

The classes would gradually begin, with increasing tempo, and exams and report cards would make us realize what real life was all about. Until next May or June.

And then the sun would come up again, the weather would get warmer and life will become easy once again. We would all of a sudden realize that we had survived another year.

School began yesterday and these were my thoughts while watching them going to school.
They use to say, treasure them, but…

When we were teenagers, our parents would all say the same thing. "My child, treasure these days. It is easier to succeed at school, because it depends on your personal commitment. If you work hard, you’ll achieve. However, when you start your work life, the same rules don’t apply. Other matters and other people will influence whether you succeed, or not. Treasure these days."

Apart from certain exceptions, none of us did. We failed to listen to our parent’s advice. Unfortunately, we all realized the wisdom of these words too late. I am sure that today most of you are repeating your parents’ advice to your children. And they are listening to it just like we did.

Realizing that they are not listening to your advice may make you angry. Don’t be. Just let life take control. Just say what you have to, and don’t turn it into a problem. Tell yourself: "Let them be healthy, free of drugs, gambling and alcohol. That’s enough for me."
Sad days will pass soon

Thank God time passes so fast that sad days always come to an end. Parents adapt themselves to the coming winter almost immediately. In a few weeks, children will get used to their new surroundings.

Isn’t it the same for all of us? Mondays usually pass very slowly. However, on Tuesday, we are all ready for the dynamism of life and all of a sudden Friday is upon us and the week has ended.

Even such articles that start sad and weary eventually change their tone and become more upbeat. Our thought process becomes used to it and you start thinking of tomorrow’s issues.

Even this smalltalk made me better. I hope I did not upset you. It’s just that the opening of school took me back.

Don’t worry, starting from tomorrow, we will return to the serious issues. The facts of life don’t let go of us. Let us never forget the past, but we should also take care not to live in it.
