Clinton Spurs Kerry to Take Fight to Bush
Kerry is hoping to make up ground on Bush — Kerry trails the US President by as much as 11 percentage points according to some polls — by taking the current administration to task for what Kerry considers to be failed and misguided policies.
Kerry reportedly talked with Clinton hours before the former President had a quadruple by-pass. Clinton urged the Democratic hopeful to "adopt a more aggressive attitude" against Bush and the Republican Party.
Kerry began his new offensive at a campaign stop in West Virginia. Kerry rallied his supporters by saying that Bush’s middle initial, W, refers to ‘wrong’.
"W stands for wrong: Wrong choices, wrong judgment, wrong priorities, wrong direction for our country," declared Kerry.
As for the Iraq war, Kerry said, "It’s the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place."
After Kerry fell behind Bush following the Republican National Convention, Democrats called upon the Massachusetts Senator to "restore order to his election campaign." Kerry earlier this week reshuffled his campaign staff in an attempt to breathe new life into his campaign. Joining Kerry’s team are John Sasso and Joe Lockhart, both former Clinton aides.
