Recent Terrorist Events in Central Asia
The administration accused the Uzbekistan Islamic Movement for the attack.
November 1, 2000: A blast at a Christian Korean organization named ‘Sonmin’ in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, killed 25 people and injured more than 20. Two students were found guilty and sentenced to death.
December 27, 2002: A bomb exploded in a bazaar in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, killing 8 people and injuring 20.
March 28 – April 1, 2004- Clashes in the Uzbek cities of Tashkent and Buhara saw 47 people lose their lives and 35 casualties. An organization called ‘Islamic Jihad’ claimed responsibility for the attacks.
