US and Israeli Embassies Targets of Tashkent Terror

The Uzbekistan Interior Ministry reports that the attacks left two Uzbeks dead and nine injured, not including the three suicide bombers. Two Uzbeks lost their lives as a result of the blast in front of the Israeli Embassy. No one, except the bomber, was killed in the attack on the American Embassy; however, three people were injured. Five people were wounded in the attack on the Uzbekistan Attorney General’s office.

The Uzbekistan Islamic Movement (UIM) reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks. Uzbek officials suspect that some people being tried by the Attorney General’s office met with Al -Qaeda and had ideological bonds with UIM.

Earlier this week, the Attorney General’s office filed charges against 15 people who are accused of participating in skirmishes earlier this spring that left 47 people dead in the cities of Tashkent and Buhara. The suspects reportedly tried to target the American and Israeli Embassies during the spring attacks.
