Impressive Portugal beat Bosnia in EURO 2024 quals


ANKARA 

Portugal beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-0 in a UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying group match Saturday to carry their perfect run in this stage.

Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, scoring after a through ball by Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes scored a header to double the gap in the 77th minute at Lisbon’s Benfica Stadium.

Portugal did not stop as Fernandes was on the score sheet again.

Near the end of the match, the 28-year-old Manchester United star unleashed a powerful strike to beat Bosnian goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic.

In the first half, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s header was ruled out for offside.

During the match, a pitch invader ran toward Ronaldo to give him a lift, and then he left the pitch.

Portugal won all three matches to lead Group J.

Roberto Martinez’s men scored 13 goals but did not concede a goal.

Following the loss, Bosnia and Herzegovina have three points and is in fourth place.

Portugal will next visit Iceland on June 20.

– Scotland stun Norway in Oslo

Group A leaders Scotland won against Norway 2-1, coming from behind in Oslo.

Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland drew first blood after scoring from the penalty spot in the 61st minute at Ullevaal Stadium.

However, the visitors scored two consecutive goals near the end of the match.

Scotland’s Lyndon Dykes leveled in the 87th minute. Teammate Kenny McLean scored the winner two minutes later.

Haaland, one of the main pillars of Norway, was subbed off minutes before Dykes’ equalizer.

Scotland are on top of the group with nine points.

Norway are in the lower ranks with a point in three matches.

On Tuesday, Norway will face Greek Cypriot Administration in Oslo.

And Group A leaders Scotland will host Georgia in Glasgow.

Georgia are second with four points, and they have a game in hand.
