Trade deficit widens

According to the trade figures for April, Turkey exported goods and services worth $4.930 billion for the month, a 34.6 percent increase on exports for the same month in 2003.
However, imports blew out to $7.949 billion for the fourth month of 2004, a rise of 52.5 percent over the April 2003 figure.
The trade deficit for April was $3.019 billion, taking the deficit in trade for the first four months of the year to $10.418 billion, almost double that for the same period in 2003.
