Cyprus: New three party coalition in the TRNC
TRNC Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat on Thursday said he was happy to have avoided another prolonged election process.
“As the prime minister of a government that had fallen to a minority I had to act,” Talat said.
Following the December 14 general election Talat’s centre left Republican Turk Party (CTP) formed a coalition with the centre right Democrat Party (DP), led by Serdar Denkta?. However, the BDH of Mustafa Akinci was excluded from the government at the time, even though it had campaigned along side the CTP in favour of the TRNC reunifying with the Greek Cypriot sector and joining the European Union as a united state.
