Metin Kaplan Being Deported to Turkey
A written statement by Federal Internal Affairs Minister, Otto Schily, yesterday said that he wanted this to be an example to all foreigners threatening the security of Germany. Schily noted that now, it is possible to return Kaplan to Turkey and he will be deported immediately.
The Munster Court emphasized that Kaplan will not be mistreated in Turkey and brought highlighted that the activity about Kaplan will be closely watched by the media, human rights organizations and the European Commission. The trial of terrorist leader Abdullah Ocalan, who is imprisoned in Turkey, was used as an example.
Kaplan’s lawyers presented reports indicating that Kaplan has prostate cancer in order to influence the Court’s decision. It is expected that Kaplan will be tried for ‘attempting to destroy Constitutional order in Turkey.’
