Turkey frees gas imports
Guler told reporters after the Mining Forum meeting in Ankara that freeing imports would be more beneficial when shifting to the free market in the natural gas sector.
When asked about the state pipeline company BOTAS not wanting to transfer its contracts, Guler said that the transition to a free market would be possible through the transfer of import contracts or freeing imports.
Guler said that the country and the consumers would benefit from the free gas imports.
Guler also noted that they wanted more countries to join the loop in natural gas imports. "Not only Russia and Iran, but we also wish other countries to export gas to Turkey. These countries may by Iraq, Egypt and Turkmenistan," he added.
