Turkey reduces the price on visa for U.S. citizens

In addition, Turkey has reduced port fees for visiting cruise ships by 40 percent to 50 percent, depending on the port. Levent Demirel, director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office at the Turkish Consulate in New York, said the reduced visa fees demonstrate how welcome Americans are.

Although a warning against travel to Turkey issued last November has been canceled, the State Department continues to recommend that Americans remain alert and “maintain a high-level of personal security vigilance” while in the country.

Americans must obtain visas to enter Turkey either upon entering the country, or in advance from one of the five Turkish consulates in the United States, including the Consulate General in New York, 821 United Nations Plaza. Information: 212- 949-0160 or www.turkishembassy.org.
