Papadopoulos will say "no" to Annan plan
NICOSIA (AA) – Greek Cypriot media reported on Tuesday that Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos would say "no" to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Cyprus plan in referendum on April 24. He would explain with reasons why he was opposed to plan in his address to people tonight at 20.00 with Turkish time.
While the consultations continue among the political parties in Greek Cyprus about a decision on taking Annan plan to a referendum, a daily Haravgi newspaper reported today that Papadopoulos took his final decision on referendum and he would reject it.
According to paper, Papadopoulos would explain his opinion to Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, Iannis Valikanis.
Simerini newspaper also reported that Papadopuolos was getting ready to reject Annan plan in referendum.
The report said that Papadopoulos had concerns over security, economic and the functionality of the government.
