UEFA Cup Shakeup in Store for Genclerbirligi?

Even though Genclerbirligi has knocked off Blackburn Rovers, Sporting Lisbon, Parma and has taken a 1-0 advantage over Valencia in the fourth round of the UEFA Cup, their president has a greater goal in mind. Genclerbirligi has remained undefeated in the Cup so far this year, yet they have been underperforming in the domestic league. "The responsibility of being the representative of Turkey increases the burden on our shoulders," said Cavcav.

Cavcav stressed however, that the increased pressure on the soccer players is an advantage for them. It is not just the pressure of the UEFA Cup and the national league the players have to worry about, but also the fact that Cavcav seems willing to sell any of their soccer players if it would be to the club’s advantage. He also mentioned that the club would not stop buying new players either, thus increasing the competition for places in the first team.

Cavcav said, "We remain afloat by selling players. If it meant we could add to our success in the UEFA Cup we might be inclined to make some transfers."
