EU has no place at negotiation table

LEFKOSA (AA) – Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Wednesday that the European Union (EU) did not have place at the table where Cyprus negotiations were being held, adding that they objected the existence of EU experts within the United Nations delegation which participated in the talks.

Denktas replied to questions of reporters before he attended fourth day talks.

When he was recalled the news of Greek Cypriot side’s television claiming that Denktas wanted to leave the negotiation table by objecting the existence of EU experts within U.N. delegation and asked whether it happened or not, Denktas said, "yes, it happened. EU does not have place at negotiation table. Nobody objects EU’s assistance, but there are U.N. and two sides at the negotiation table. Bringing also the EU to the negotiation table is not right. Thus, we made that objection, it is true."
