5 Thousand Workers to Help Finish the Baku-Ceyhan Pipeline

Governmental and host country agreements were signed in 1999, in 2000 the bases were completed, and in 2001 more detailed construction was finished. Since May 2003, work has continued at a slow tempo, with the aim of preparation and education. As the company in charge of constructing the line, BOTAS (Petrol Transferring with Pipelines AS) has assigned construction of the pipeline in three phases to different consortiums. The Posof-Erzurum (A Section) part of the line will be built by by Tepe-Nacap; the Erzurum-Sivas (B Section) part of the line will be built by Streicher-Haudstad and Timmermann-Gunsayili-Alarko; and the Sivas-Ceyhan (C Section) part of the line will be constructed by Punj Lloyd-Limak.
