5 More Cases Against Turkey in ECHR
The plaintiffs claim that at the time of their arrest and during their trial, Turkey had violated ECHR treaty articles related to the abolishment of torture and inhumane treatment, and the right to security and freedom. Mahmut Sunnetci, who now lives in Germany asserts that he was arrested and tortured in 1994 on charges of aiding and abetting the PKK.
Plaintiffs Ayse Tepe, Hakime Esen and Oya Isimli stated in their application to the Strasbourg Court that they were tortured during detention by Turkish police for helping the PKK and its members.
