40 people wounded in YOK protest in Turkey
ANKARA (AA) – Police officers used tears gas and pressure water to obstruct the demonstration and students responded to police forces by stones and sticks. Following this, 30 students and 10 police were wounded.
A group of students who would like to protest 22nd year of foundation of YOK’ gathered in Ziya Gokalp street in Kizilay square. Protesting YOK with placards and applauses, students faced with police forces in Kizilay since morning.
Despite of police’ warning the group continued their protests, so they used tear gas to stop demonstrators. Students responded with stones and sticks in their hands. Upon this, police responded with pressure water.
While some students managed to flee from the area, security forces detained scores of them. A number of security forces and demonstrators were injured during the clash.
Meanwhile, journalists, passersby and security officials themselves were also affected from the tear-gas.
